The pressure gauge is mounted on the pump outlet or main delivery line. In everyday use it confirms the pump is working normally; away from that normal band, it is usually the first sign that something in the system needs attention.
A reading that climbs and holds high generally points to a blocked line or a distributor that has stopped metering, while a reading that stays low can mean a leak, an empty reservoir or a pump on its way out.
